💊 Profile

Sivelestat is an elastase inhibitor that primarily inhibits neutrophil elastase. It is given by intravenous infusion as the sodium salt in the treatment of acute lung injury associated with systemic inflammatory response syndrome. However, a large study in patients with acute lung injury did not find it of benefit.
