Sigetin is an analogue of hexestrol but is reported to have no oestrogenic activity. It is used in the management of menopausal symptoms in a usual oral daily dose of 100 to 200 mg. Sigetin is also reported to enhance the action of oxytocin and to improve placental blood flow and has been given intravenously or intramuscularly in the active management of labour and for threatened intra-uterine fetal asphyxia.
