💊 Profile

Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein found in milk, saliva, and other exocrine secretions. It has antimicrobial actions and has been used in preparations for the management of dry mouth and other mouth disorders. Lactoferrin and other whey proteins have also been used as nutritional supplements. Recombinant forms of lactoferrin such as talactoferrin alfa are under investigation.
