Anisodamine is an alkaloid isolated from Scopolia tangutica (Anisodus tanguticus), a plant used as a traditional medicine in China. It is related to atropine and hyoscyamine and has similar antimuscarinic properties. Anisodamine is given orally for its spasmolytic actions in the treatment of gastrointestinal spasm. It has also been tried in circulatory disorders, septic shock, and organophosphorus poisoning.
