(Aniseed; Anisi Fructus). The whole dried fruit of Pimpinella anisum, containing not less than 2% v/w of essential oil. It has an odour reminiscent of anethole. Protect from light.

💊 Profile

Aniseed is carminative and mildly expectorant; it is used mainly as anise oil or as preparations of the oil. It may cause contact dermatitis, probably due to its anethole content. Aniseed is the source of anise oil (below).
