💊 Profile

Canrenone is a potassium-sparing diuretic with properties similar to those of spironolactone and is given orally in the treatment of refractory oedema associated with heart failure, renal, or hepatic disease, and in hypertension. It is a metabolite of both spironolactone and potassium canrenoate. It is given in usual doses of 50 to 200 mg daily. Doses of up to 300 mg daily may be required in some patients.
