💊 Profile

Sulfabenzamide is a sulfonamide with properties similar to those of sulfamethoxazole. It is reported to exert an optimal bacteriostatic action at pH 4.6. It is used with sulfacetamide and sulfathiazole in pessaries or a vaginal cream for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, although its value has been questioned.
